Strengthening cooperation between CILSS and the Kingdom of the Netherlands

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, Her Excellency Mrs. Esther Loeffen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Burkina Faso, paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of CILSS in Ouagadougou. She was received by Dr. Abdoulaye MOHAMADOU, the Executive Secretary of CILSS, accompanied by his key collaborators.
This courtesy visit is particularly significant as it presents an opportunity to enhance bilateral relations and further cooperation between CILSS and the Netherlands, which already boast a history of fruitful partnership. It demonstrates the commitment of both parties to consolidate existing ties and seek out new opportunities for collaboration.
Discussions focused on various areas of cooperation within the CILSS mandate, in this case the development of irrigation for agricultural purposes. During the audience, the Ambassador praised the achievements of CILSS in various fields, and expressed her admiration for the progress made and the influence of CILSS during its fifty years of existence.
She emphasized the importance of continued, dynamic cooperation in tackling global challenges and promoting development, peace and security in the region.
