Official launch of activities to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the CILSS, on 28 March 2023 in Bamako, Mali: The Permanent Inter-State Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) was set up on 12 September 1973 following the major droughts that hit the Sahel in the 1970s. The CILSS, born of the farsightedness of its founding fathers in a concern for active solidarity between peoples, is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of its creation this year.
